The Youth Entrepreneurship Program, an economic development program of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, is will host a networking event for its members and upcoming entrepreneurs in the business community. “Your Business Makeover 2012” will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, and is intended as an opportunity for future business owners to come together to discuss their ideas at the start of the new year.

“This free event will help aspiring young entrepreneurs get 2012 off on the right foot,” said Maricela Sandoval, YEP coordinator. “They will be inspired by fellow entrepreneurs who have taken their enterprises to the next level and will learn how to propel their businesses to success.”

The event offers networking opportunities, refreshments, a young entrepreneurs’ business expo and other presentations. Neil Jain, co-founder and director of business development and marketing for app development firm mChron, will lead a “Pitch-It” Corner, where aspiring entrepreneurs can receive feedback and advice on their ideas.

The highlight of the evening is a presentation and talk by serial entrepreneur and branding expert Oscar Garcia, founder of OG Branding Education. Garcia’s entrepreneurial streak showed early, when, at a young age, he helped to develop a marketing firm that grew to reach the Forbes 500 within its first three years. He started his own first company in 1996, a print and design firm, and by 1999 he was developing websites for top-rated TV shows. Another aspect of Garcia’s business includes software development; his clients have included Fortune 500 companies such as Ford and Verizon. He’s also provided coaching on search engine optimization (SEO) to small businesses and information on how to develop social media traffic by using a network of dozens of different websites.

The YEP’s next event is early next month, when it hosts the Entrepreneurial Marketing and Management Seminar. Registration for that event is $300 but will be free to qualifying businesses.
