Irvine-based Kia Motors America's 2011 Sportage was named the Best New Crossover Vehicle in About.com's Readers' Choice Awards, adding to the growing list of accolades the model has received.
Chosen completely by consumers, the annual awards are designed to highlight the top products and services in multiple categories across the industry.
"The Sportage continues to add to its list of industry and consumer awards and accolades, and as the second Kia vehicle to offer a turbocharged engine in the U.S., we are confident consumer consideration for Sportage and the entire Kia lineup will continue to grow," said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing and communications for Kia Motors America.
The 2011 Kia Sportage also was named the International Truck of the Year by International Car of the Year jurors and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick.
The model offers high-level performance and efficiency, along with improved comfort and convenience. The vehicle features a 256 horsepower turbo engine and starts at $18,295.
"Launched as part of Kia's ongoing design-led transformation, the 2011 Sportage continues Kia's commitment to offering consumers unmatched levels of styling, technology, performance and overall value," said Sprague.
