Chapman Medical Center in Orange is looking to increase patient access to advanced spinal and neurological treatments with its new facility.

The Southern California Center for Neuroscience and Spine, which opened in April at the health-care facility, focuses on diagnosing and treating patients with neck and spinal disorders, brain tumors, movement disorders and epilepsy.

Neurosurgeons Gowriharan Thaiyananthan, M.D., Devin Binder, M.D., Ph.D., and Ali Mesiwala, M.D., serve as co-directors of the center.

"The (center) was developed based on the growing demand of Orange County patients who needed an innovative, one-stop solution for the treatment of complex spine and neurological disorders,” said Thaiyananthan. “By combining our academic experience and advanced surgical expertise, we are confident in our ability to provide patients (with) a comprehensive program designed to improve their quality of life."

Typical conditions treated include herniated discs or pinched nerves, degenerative disc disease, failed back syndrome, sciatica, spinal stenosis, cervical pain, scoliosis and spondylolisthesis.

“The combination of advanced technology and less-invasive treatments allows us to give patients with spinal and neurological disorders significant relief from their pain,” said Binder. “We are continuing to research new, innovative therapies and procedures to enhance the quality of life for our patients and their families.”

The center, which focuses on advanced minimally invasive treatments, will also conduct clinical studies of new treatments for spine and neurological disorders.

The center is located at 2617 E. Chapman Ave., Suite 110.
