The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce teams up with Paxson Productions to launch a charitable layout for Facebook.

The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Paxson Productions to launch a new Facebook Cause Layout. Participants and fans of the chambers annual Turkey Trot charity event can download the Facebook skin, which promotes the event and boosts fundraising.

“We think it is a great way for the Dana Point Turkey trot to actually reach out to our participants,” said Laura Ouimet, executive director of the chamber.
“It is beneficial to everybody because it is at no cost for the Turkey Trot but yet it does give back to our cause.”

With every free download Paxson gives one dollar to the chambers fundraiser. The chamber felt it was important to reach out to participants year round through social media sites.

“I think social media is definitely the way to go when you are trying to reach a certain demographic and our demographic for the Turkey Trot is not only locals but there friends and family that live across the country,” said Ouimet. “Social media is a great way to reach those that are not in our local area for direct advertising.”

Paxson Productions boasts its Cause Layouts are the first free marketing layouts that provide charities with “Cause-Based Social Media Fundraising” capabilities.

“There are more than 500 million active users on Facebook who spend over 700 billion minutes per month on the site, so it’s more important than ever for non-profits to find new and effective methods to reach current and potential donors through this social network,” said Dean Weber, president, Paxson Productions LLC.

“We are hoping that the number of participants increases this year with all the additional outreach we are doing,” said Kelly Straine, assistant director of the chamber. “We want to let people know that this is America’s Turkey Trot and the one to come to.”
