![]() Privately held since 1997, the nanotech giant produces a variety of pioneering products designed for the restoration, protection and maintenance of silica-based surfaces such as glass, granite, tile, porcelain and quartz. DFI's upgraded Irvine facilities will provide greater access to its existing and future customers, and it will offer a larger pool of technology prospects for future hiring needs. The company also expects to benefit from several nearby educational institutions with resources to help it advance its research and development capabilities. “To ensure successful growth of our signature, patented product lines, DFI is committed to continually keeping abreast of the latest technology for the coating industry,” says Russell Slaybaugh, DFI general manager. The company was previously housed in multiple locations, according to Slaybaugh, and the new facility will bring production, administration and most of the research and development needs into one spot, which reduces the overall costs of the business. Slaybaugh says no immediate new hires are anticipated, but perhaps in three to six months there may be additional administrative and marketing personnel. He further revealed that a new emerging “core market” will be in kitchen and bath products.
