Extron Electronics begins construction on expanded headquarters

Extron Electronics is moving forward with efforts to expand its corporate headquarters. The audio-visual system manufacturer is beginning construction on a new building in Anaheim that will include, among other elements, a restaurant and music venue.

The new six-story, 200,000-square-foot building will be an addition to its current campus on the corner of Ball Road and Lewis Street, and it will serve as the company's main corporate headquarters. The facility includes a new training center that's 20 percent larger than its current space. The 15,000-square-foot spot will boast three classrooms – two of which will have movable walls – a demo area and an audio lab.

"We look forward to serving our customers better with additional classes and larger training facilities," says Extron President Andrew Edwards.

He says the larger space supports Extron's expanding product lines and growing staff. The company currently has close to 80 job openings, including positions in engineering, marketing and manufacturing, among others.

But that's not all: The first floor of the building will feature, of all things, an upscale restaurant and country-music venue tentatively called The Ranch.

“The Ranch will combine a good product with good customer service and support, the same core values that customers have come to expect from Extron,” says Edwards. “As part of this exciting project, we’ll be looking for employees for The Ranch as we get closer to opening.”

The company plans to hire up to 70 employees at The Ranch.

The energy-efficient facility will also feature dual-pane tinted glass, extra thermal insulation and ice-thermal energy-storage technology.

Extron currently has 5 buildings totaling 500,000 square feet of space at its Anaheim campus. The company has occupied its present headquarters since 1995 and maintains additional facilities worldwide.

The new building is expected to be completed in the fall of next year.
