Gary Highland

Real Estate and Business Loans Specialist

Gary J. Highland, one of the top O.C. attorneys named by OC METRO and Avvo for 2009 and 2010, is the senior attorney at Highland Law Corporation, an Irvine-based firm that focuses exclusively on the representation of lenders in commercial real estate and business loan transactions.

In today’s economic environment, documentation and closing of loan modifications for commercial real estate and apartment loans is a much larger proportion of the firm’s practice.

Highland and associates Taylor Chi and Heather Paulus have extensive experience representing lenders. The firm represents many of the largest and most prestigious lending institutions in the U.S., as well as smaller institutions and private lenders.

“We are in the midst of a huge boom in commercial loan modifications,” Highland said. “When properly structured, loan modifications can be a win-win solution for the lender and borrower: The lender turns a non-performing loan into a performing asset, while the borrower avoids foreclosure and is able to hold onto their property through the economic downturn.”

Highland Law Corporation works closely with RoboDocs, a loan preparation service, to prepare documents and provide related legal services for commercial real estate and apartment loans.

Founded by Highland in 1997, RoboDocs remains the only document preparation service to specialize exclusively in commercial and multifamily real estate loan documentation.

Widely recognized for pioneering automation in his practice, Highland has been featured in numerous articles on computerized document systems and law office technology. He developed several computer applications to automate the preparation of customized commercial loan documents; in fact, he created much of the document automation software used by RoboDocs today.

Highland received his undergraduate degree from UC Irvine and earned his law degree from the USC Law Center. At USC, he served as notes editor for the Southern California Law Review. Highland is a member of the State Bar of California, American Mensa and The Pacific Club. He lives in Newport Beach with his family, including three young children.
