Blue Coral Seafoods & Spirits: Blue Coral Vojito

Blue Coral Seafood & Spirits offers a selection of muddled cocktails, which use a muddler to extract the juices and flavors from fruit or herbs. A muddler is a small wooden pestle shaped like a baseball bat that combines ingredients by pressing them at the bottom of the glass before adding the liquid ingredients.

The restaurant's muddled cocktails are very popular because of the cool and refreshing mix of fruit and herbs, and Blue Coral's Vojito tops the list. The cocktail features fresh muddled blueberries with Stoli Blueberry Vodka, and mint, lime and sugar.

And Blue Coral tailors each muddled cocktail to your own personal flavor. So, the next time you're in the mood for a flavorful cocktail, head to Blue Coral.

Claim Jumper: Espresso Yourself Martini

Claim Jumper puts the express in Espresso Yourself Martini. Every year, Claim Jumper holds a competition for its bartending staff, allowing them to express themselves by creating new drinks for the national menu. “We are always looking to expand and make our drink menu unique,” says Jeff Manning, bar manager at Claim Jumper in Fountain Valley.

Claim Jumper bartenders throughout the country submit their drinks to a panel of judges. Twenty-five finalists are chosen out of about 150 drinks, and only eight are named winners.

The competition takes place toward the beginning of the year, two months before the new menu rolls out, so the winning cocktails are featured on the new menu.

One of this year’s winners was Nikki Telfer from the Fountain Valley restaurant, who created the Espresso Yourself Martini. And here's a fun fact about this cocktail: It's so popular that the manager continually orders Seagram’s Vodka to keep up with the high demand.

Billy’s at the Beach: Mai Tai

Nothing says tropical like a Mai Tai, and no one makes a better Mai Tai than Billy’s at the Beach. Known for their happening bar, the restaurant is a great local hangout for after-work drink with friends. Guests rave about the Mai Tai: It's the most popular cocktail at Billy's.

Complete with tikki men and little umbrellas, the Mai Tai is a fruity, cool and refreshing way to pretend you're in Hawaii. And Newport Beach, with its cool ocean breeze, adds to this tropical fantasy. Be careful though – the Mai Tai is strong, and you don't want to forget where you are completely!
