![]() It's the first film festival to be held in Anaheim – but it's not the first in Orange County. The 11th annual Newport Beach Film Festival, which is slated to run April 22-29, is another staple to the region. The eight-day event drew in some 50,000 attendees last year, and the city's restaurants – many of which participated in the event's Opening Night Gala – as well as hotels, resorts and retailers benefited from the influx of visitors. And Anaheim International Film Festival organizers believe the new event, which will showcase 200 independent and student films, documentaries, live action shorts and animated projects, will also be a success, according to Sinan Kanatsiz, co-founder and chairman of the program. "Anaheim is the ideal place to host an international film festival, with its community focus, cultural diversity and prime location," Kanatsiz says. "With the support of the city of Anaheim and some of its most prominent businesses, we are confident the AIFF will attract thousands of film enthusiasts from both Southern California and around the globe." Among the local companies getting involved: Disneyland Resort, one of the event's founding sponsors.
