Former Irvine Co. exec named head of FNE Holdings

William McFarland will serve as CEO of the Irvine-based firm.

Former Irvine Co. Executive Vice President and Director William McFarland has been named CEO of FNE Holdings, parent of the Fieldstone Group of Cos.

During his tenure at the Irvine Co., McFarland (right) headed up the design and development of the master-planned communities within the Irvine Ranch. He also served as CEO, president and director of the firm's community development subsidiary.

McFarland brings more than 35 years of experience to Irvine-based FNE, which has built nearly 26,000 homes in Southern California, Utah and Texas through its business units.

"We are exceptionally fortunate that Bill McFarland will serve as CEO of FNE," says Peter Ochs, FNE co-founder and chairman of the board.

He calls McFarland's experience and talent a "perfect match" for the company's needs.

Among McFarland's other accolades: He was elected to the California Building Industry Foundation Hall of Fame in 1996 for his work in the homebuilding sector. He has served on a number of corporate and nonprofit boards, as well.

The company also named Chad Ogden president of FNE. Ogden formerly oversaw the firm's Texas and Utah operations. He will report to McFarland.

Before these strategic moves, the company was run by an executive committee made up of Ochs, Keith Johnson, co-founder and vice chairman of the board, and Kenneth Beall, a member of the board.

"With homebuilding poised for gradual recovery after the worst years since the 1930s, we are excited about the opportunities which are beginning to appear," finishes Ochs. "This top-notch team, backed by a strong board, positions us to capitalize on value creation for the company as we move forward into 2010 and beyond."
