![]() The retail center near Disneyland, which is reportedly scheduled for a trustee auction next month, was the sole recipient in the county. The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk took home the honor in the cause marketing category for its "Anaheim in Motion: History Comes to Life" campaign. More than 30 community organizations and schools partnered with the property on the platform, which used vacant space at the development to create 20 large murals depicting Anaheim's history. Special recognition was given to The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk’s Director of Marketing Kelly Weesner; Marketing Manager Kellie Ciccoianni, General Manager Nathan Hilbig, as well as Creative and Executive Director and volunteer Janet Lee. The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk will now move on as a finalist in ICSC’s Global Awards Competition, the Best-of-the-Best. Winners from the event will be announced during the trade association's annual convention in Las Vegas this May. The news is a positive for the retail center, which is up for sale at a trustee auction set for April 8, according to media reports. The sale was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but it has been postponed. A division of Citigroup filed a notice of default on the property last year, after the equity partners who financed the development failed to make payments on more than $188 million in loans. The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk opened in 2008 and now features 46 stores, restaurants and entertainment venues including an IMAX theater, lounge, bowling alley and spa.
