![]() Komen O.C. partnered with the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation to honor the individuals, who are determined by the number of volunteer hours committed over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime. Demsey has dedicated more than 4,000 hours of service over a lifetime; she has been involved in almost every Komen O.C. event, among other efforts. “From participating on long-term committees to undertaking day-to-day tasks, our remarkable volunteers are the driving force behind so much of what Komen O.C. has been able to accomplish for the breast cancer community,” said Lisa Wolter, executive director of the Komen Orange County Affiliate. “We thank every one of our volunteers for their time, talent and dedication to helping us end breast cancer forever.” Each awardee received an official lapel pin, a personalized certificate of achievement and a congratulatory letter from President Barack Obama.
