Komen O.C. honors 27 local volunteers
Laguna Niguel's Suzi Demsey took home the Call to Service Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure last week awarded 27 local individuals with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Among the honorees: Laguna Niguel's Suzi Demsey, who was recognized with the Call to Service Lifetime Achievement Award for her longstanding dedication to the nonprofit.
Komen O.C. partnered with the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation to honor the individuals, who are determined by the number of volunteer hours committed over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime.
Demsey has dedicated more than 4,000 hours of service over a lifetime; she has been involved in almost every Komen O.C. event, among other efforts.
“From participating on long-term committees to undertaking day-to-day tasks, our remarkable volunteers are the driving force behind so much of what Komen O.C. has been able to accomplish for the breast cancer community,” said Lisa Wolter, executive director of the Komen Orange County Affiliate. “We thank every one of our volunteers for their time, talent and dedication to helping us end breast cancer forever.”
Each awardee received an official lapel pin, a personalized certificate of achievement and a congratulatory letter from President Barack Obama.
