![]() Company execs said the region is ideal for the chain's expansion, due to its economic climate, population and competitive landscape, among other features, which suggest the area is a match for the membership-based franchise's business model. Located in The Bluffs Shopping Center, the first store will be operated by Bill and Bonnie Bousema, regional business developers for Massage Heights. “We appeal to people seeking to relieve anxiety, or stress, or back, or muscle pain issues, as well as licensed massage therapists looking to improve their lifestyle with set hours and consistent traffic,” said Bill Bousema. Members can sign up for a monthly fee of $59.99 and receive a one-hour rejuvenation massage, with the option of additional services (called Elevations), such as a peppermint foot scrub, aromatherapy or hot stone therapy for a discounted rate. Additional massages under the membership program cost $39.99. The spa also offers nonmember services and drop-in appointments. Massage Heights boasts a 90 percent customer retention rate, according to the company. And memberships signed at local spas are good for services at any of the chain's more than 60 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, the company, which was launched in 2004, plans to open more than 1,600 more locations in the next five years. “With 25 million more Americans each year getting a massage today than a decade ago, the room for growth is limitless,” said Bousema.
