Mesa Consolidated Water District officials, and business, government and nonprofit leaders will mark the agency's 50th anniversary today with a VIP celebration and awards ceremony.
The district, which was founded in 1960, serves more than 110,000 customers in an 18-mile area, including Costa Mesa, parts of Newport Beach and the John Wayne Airport.
Today's ceremony will pay tribute to the agency's history and will include a memorabilia display, a photo presentation, a time capsule and a special performance from the All-American Boys Chorus of Costa Mesa.
During the event, district officials will present Lifetime Achievement awards to Karl Kemp, former general manager of the district, and Henry Panian, a former board member. C.J. Segerstrom & Sons will garner the Water Stewardship award for the company's commitment to conservation efforts and infrastructure development.
In addition, the Mesa Consolidated Water District has published a commemorative book complete with historical facts and images. For more information, click here.
