Organizers are ramping up for the inaugural OC Fashion Week, which kicks off May 18 in the Artist Village of Downtown Santa Ana.
Hosted by the Orange County Fashion Association, the event will offer a lecture series, a student design competition, and shows and exhibits, all aimed at promoting the local apparel industry and supporting those who hope to develop a career in the field. (And, click here to check out the second installment of OC METRO's "7 Series" for an in-depth look at the local apparel industry.)
The lecture series runs May 18-21, and will feature a host of industry professionals who will discuss topics such as production and Fair Trade, how to enter the fashion business, and styles and promotions.
Meanwhile, the OC Fashion House student competition and show, which is set for May 20, will feature the designs of students from the Art Institute Orange County, Santa Ana College, Cal State Long Beach and Long Beach City College.
Other fashion shows taking place throughout the event are OC Born, Raised in OC and In Sustainable Fashion, as well as an exhibit dubbed Corsets in Modern Fashion.
OC Fashion Week runs through May 22. For ticket pricing and event information, visit ocfashionassociation.com.
