Organizers ramp up for OC METRO's 2010 Green Team celebration
Program recognizing 25 eco-friendly companies is set for Thursday.

Organizers are gearing up for OC METRO's 2010 Green Team event, which is set for Thursday at the Orange County Great Park.
The event celebrates the work of 25 environmentally friendly companies here in Orange County. The firms that make up this year's list are among the greenest in the region, and they span a range of industries. Among the honorees: a textile manufacturer, a desalination plant developer, a real estate firm and even a company that makes the foam used in surfboards.
OC METRO Publisher and Churm Media CEO Steve Churm will recognize the companies for their efforts in recycling, manufacturing, energy and water conservation, land developing, education and innovation. And a representative from Waste Management of Orange County, one of OC METRO's honorees, will speak during the program.
Additional sponsors include 4G Wireless Verizon Wireless, Brandman University, Archstone Apartments, e-Recycling of California, CleanTech OC and UPS.
In keeping with the environmentally friendly theme, RipeOrange, the marketing, communications and design division of Churm Media, practiced a number of green initiatives in planning the event. The firm used an eco-friendly print process for the event's banners; china and silver will be used instead of disposable plates and plastic; and a selection of items on the menu were grown or farmed organically.
