The honors recognize plans and projects throughout Southern California that coordinate land-use and transportation efforts and support the mobility, prosperity and livability of the region. ARTIC was selected by a panel of eight judges for its use of environmentally friendly technologies and its support in boosting the local economy. Irvine-based KTGY Group served as the design adviser to the city of Anaheim and the Orange County Transportation Authority, which are partnering on the project. The firm also prepared the master plan and mixed-use conceptual development guidelines, and will continue to support the center's implementation. Construction is slated to begin next year on ARTIC, which will be located on a 16-acre space owned by the OCTA and Anaheim near Angel Stadium and Honda Center. Upon completion, ARTIC will serve as an urban center and transportation hub for O.C. and the Southern California region. The project will encompass current and future modes of transportation, including the planned high-speed rail.
