Santa Ana-based nonprofit shopgoodwill.com is celebrating its first decade of providing a valuable online service to shoppers and donors alike. The charitable auction site is celebrating its underscores the commitment of Goodwill Industries to be not only a leader in job placement, but also innovative social enterprise through its use of technology. The site, created and managed by Goodwill of Orange County, was ranked one of the Top 10 online auction sites according to Online Auction Sites Top Ten Reviews and Time.com’s 50 Best Web sites of 2009. It has been instrumental in bringing a whole new world of shoppers and donors in contact with Goodwill and its mission of providing job training programs, employment placement services and community programs worldwide. Since its launch in August 1999, the site has posted more than 5 million items, helping to raise $75 million in funds for job training programs for people with disabilities, lack of education or job experience, among others.
