![]() “Many patients have been waiting months, or even years, for surgery. We are so grateful to the medical volunteers of St. Joseph Hospital for their support, generosity and kindness,” says Ericka Waidley, executive director at Access OC. Throughout the day doctors, nurses and other volunteers will be donating their time and skills to restore patients back to health. Scheduled procedures include eye surgeries, hernia repairs, and cholecystectomies. This event marks the fourth annual free surgery event for the partnership. The organization says this “super” surgery Saturday can impact lives in Orange County, as there are many patients who have been hindered from working due to their medical conditions and have not been able to afford insurance. A free surgery will allow them to continue living a normal, healthy life, according to the partnership. “The Outpatient Surgery Program has been very successful over the years, and will continue to be needed to relieve pain and suffering and help individuals get back into an active role in their families and communities,” said Waidley.
