Irvine-based electronics designer and manufacturer Teridian Semiconductor has inked a global distribution deal with Quebec-based Future Electronics.

Future Electronics is set to market Teridian’s complete product portfolio, which includes system on-chip integrated circuits used in smart utility meters, control and communication products, as well as secure access and networking devices such as  Ethernet cords, modems and WAN interfaces.

"The combination of our award-winning products and Future's technical and logistical capabilities make this the ideal partnership," says Gerald Fitch, president and CEO of Teridian. "We are pleased to have Future as part of our sales strategy and look forward to addressing the global opportunity for energy-measurement solutions together."

Teridian has shipped more than 40 million system on-chip units and currently has the largest market share for such metering devices, according to the firm.

In addition to smart utility meters, Teridians’ products are used in servers, power distribution units and outlet monitoring.

"Teridian has achieved technical excellence in its product design and we plan to bring our own technical capabilities to expand the market for Teridian," notes Frantz Saintellemy, Future Electronics chief technology officer.

He says Teridian's products will strengthen Future Electronics' energy solutions.

The deal goes into effect immediately for the U.S. and Europe and will extend to Asia and Japan in June.
