![]() UCI boasts that participants will be able to take away action plans focused on building loyalty, increasing productivity, enhancing performance and improving employee relations, as well as acquiring insight into their personal leadership style. “Companies seek managers who can build high-performing teams through leadership, group facilitation, communication and conflict management. They must be able to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously, analyze and resolve problems and cope with deadlines,” says Tom Pokladowski, acting director of law, finance and business programs at UCI Extension. “The new specialized studies program provides business professionals with the expertise to expand their capabilities and become effective leaders.” In the upcoming fall quarter, the first online course called Foundations of Leadership, taught by Kerri Lewis, will be offered. According to the university, the course will provide a hands-on method of helping managers and supervisors build up their people-management skills, in addition to learning how to recognize leadership skills in themselves and others. The school says the course will also help participants develop communication strategies for quickly and efficiently conveying information throughout the organization.
