Waste Management of O.C. launches $1.7 million system

Sort line is expected to help reduce the region's landfill deposits.

Waste Management of Orange County today is unveiling a new $1.7 million recycling sort line that's expected to reduce the region's landfill deposits and carbon emissions.

The eco-technology, which will be located at the company's Irvine Processing and Transfer Facility, was built because of consumers' growing interest and increased government awareness in green programs.

The sort line will increase the facility's waste diversion to 30,000 tons processed a year, according to the firm, and will thereby help Orange County to become more environmentally efficient and sustainable.
