Habitat for Humanity in Santa Ana received a $300,000 grant from Wells Fargo Housing Foundation for the construction of affordable housing in Orange County. $100,000 will be allocated to capacity building and $200,000 to Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, a program aimed at helping low-income families by providing revitalization services and home repairs. Through the initiative, company reps expect 17 homes will be built in Santa Ana by August of 2013.
Wells Fargo’s contribution is part of the company’s plans to fund 18 Habitat for Humanity affiliates nationwide. “Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative relies on partnerships with other organizations to transform neighborhoods using a holistic approach,” said Sharon Ellis, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Orange County.
The organization will also use the funds to refurbish 30 additional homes in Santa Ana by working with the rehabilitation service, A Brush with Kindness. According to organization reps, Habitat for Humanity has built 169 homes in Orange County since the branch was established in 1988.
